Just a quick note.  We are 70 miles from the Statue of Liberty!  Yea!!!  We will officially end the riding part of our Journey at Battery Park, NYC on Sepember 12 between Noon and 1:00pm.  We have no idea what type of ‘event’ will take place at the finish but you are all welcome to greet us there.

If you are in the area Sunday the 7th, you can see us at Tymor Park near Hopewell Junction, NY at 3:00pm.  You can get all the details at www.hrcrca.org .

I will post a longer report soon.  Keep following Jesus.  He leads to some interesting places.

Mortimer Troops: I hope there is a large, HUGE group there to see you come ‘rolling’ in on the 12th. But if there isn’t, you can know that you reached thousands on your journey across the U.S. There are people you reached that you will never know about until you get to heaven. Someone will come up to you and say “hey Bob, you don’t remember me but I was in ____ and your message so touched my life that I decided to follow Jesus fully and recommitted my life. Bob, I’m here with you in heaven because of your message, because of your obedience to go across America.” Mortimers, I have no doubt that you will hear that plenty through eternity.

So… now I know why I haven’t seen you and your wife on the Cushman bike trail. I’m the guy on the yellow bike riding over the bridge each afternoon to Allenmore Hospital to work. I also saw you on the 2006 STP. Nothing stops you! I congratulate you on your incredible trip! I am so glad I discovered you did this trip.

WOW, SIMPLY AWESOME AND AMAZING…ALL OF YOU! CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL DONE! One i doubt anyone of us, will soon forget and stop talking to others about. You have all been such an inspiration to everyone following you every tough stretch of the way. How can ANYTHING in life compare to what you will have accomplished come tomorrow when you reach the statue of Liberty. I for one, hope there is a celebration like no other to greet you all when you arrive. If not, this country should be ashamed of itself.
I wish i could be there to welcome you in. I will be there in spirit and hope to see you all at Bertt’s church and hear you, Bob or all of you speaking of what you got out of this journey.
God bless all of you & thank you,
    Sunni*

Thanks for sharing your amazing trek with us. I’ve been following your blog (silently til this point) and listening to you on KMPS. I sure appreciate the message you are carrying and the courage it took your whole family to undertake this journey.

Bob, Darla, Nicole, Grant, Chanel (Jeanne and Don too!)-
My dart buddy Mark called me yesterday to tell me he had found a way to get you all onto liberty island. Bob-you know how cool this is because he just happened to called my (Verizon)cell phone at the precise time I walked past the only place in my building I actually receive a signal. The head of guidance and my assistant principal were there as my eyes began to well up and I told them the news. Halleluiah!

It’s 1:24pm Friday September 12th and I’m sitting down at my desk at School. The very spot where, just a few short months ago Bob, you and I sat between assemblies discussing the “real mission”-to ride across this great land bringing Hope and Courage to those who-due to their circumstances-had either lost it or may never have had it to begin with. Fresh from the hugs and words of your Hopewell message last Sunday, I too am shedding some tears of joy because I know what you all must be feeling right now. Even more far-reaching, all of those people you have met along your journey and touched their hearts as just God had intended, are weeping and sharing with you in your moment.

This moment will be eternal for me and I know for others who, at any time they lose focus on the way up their mountains, will now have reason to pause and remember how they were despondent and came alive again; by His grace and love….brought directly to them….by you and your family.

I await your next contact with joyful anticipation!

Until then, Peace & joy to you all!

    Scott
