I can’t fully describe how we are feeling tonight. Tomorrow we climb on our bikes and pedal eleven miles down the Westside of Manhattan to Battery Park. Someone pulled some strings and we will take my bike and the team over to the Statue of Liberty for some photos. My eyes are watering just typing it. Eleven miles. Down past Central Park, down past the Theater District, down past Times Square, down past the shopping district, down past Herald Square, down past Wall Street, down past Ground Zero to the raised torch of the Statue of Liberty. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”There’s Hope and Courage. Since last May we have crossed America with one message…Hope in Christ and Courage to do something with that Hope. I can’t remember most of what we’ve seen or done. So many faces, so many miles. Thankfully Darla has journaled our trip to remind me later. We spoke at a church called Hopewell last Sunday. Hopewell. How appropriate. Their church was started in that spot in 1757. We weren’t even a nation yet. They called our team forward at the end of the service to gather around and pray for us. They didn’t pray for the end of this Journey. They prayed for the beginning of the next. But tonight we can’t free our thoughts from the finish of this Journey. Who will be at the finish line to greet us? Will any media pick up the last stretch? Will Jesus be glorified? Will He be pleased? You have been with us on this Journey from the beginning. We know your thoughts and prayers will be with us at the end. The Hope and Courage Team
Dear Friends,
We had our family devotions around the computer tonight… reading your blog and praying for you, with you that tomorrow will be another day of seeing His name glorified in a wonderful way.
Blessings and strength to all of you,

Wow - I get to be the first of the last! We’re so proud of you guys. I am reminded of Hebrews 12:2 “…let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” and the words of Paul as he wrote to Timothy “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
You’ve done it!
Hip hip hooray hip hip hooray hip hip hooooorrraaaaayyyyy. That message comes across better when it is shouted, not written. But, you get the idea. I am so proud of you all. I just got to work and am supposed to be doing something else but just had to check on you. The office is very short staffed today but me, Marnie and our boss are all rooting for you. You may even be at your journey’s end as I type this. What a great thing you have done. I must admit though, I’m going to be glad to have you all back home soon. Jeanne- I’ll see you soon. The rest of you-have a safe trip back.
Love,
Reenie & Fred
I am so proud of you all. I knew this trip was going to be life changing for you and those you would encounter and forever memorable in your hearts. Way to go! We love you!
I can’t wait to hear all about it. I was praying for you on 9/11 that things would go great for you on 9/12. That there would be a huge crowd and even more touched by your faithfulness to His call as you go through New York City and on to the Statue of Liberty. May many more lives be touched by you today, 9/12; and as you journey back to the West Coast. It would be about 2:00 pm East coast time so you must be there by now. Be safe on the return and have fun.

Dear Son,
I am so happy to hear that you have finally made it to your destination. I know it was something you always wanted to do. I know it has taken a lot of effort and has taken a lot out of you and your family, but you have been given so much more in return. I’m so proud of you and what you’ve done with your life and your effort to complete your mission of spreading Hope and Courage. I’ve missed all of you during your time away and look forward to your return. May God bless you and keep you safe on your return trip.
Your loving Mother
The Wonderful Mortimer Family,
I just can’t think of the words to say to describe how I feel just knowing that you all finally made it to your destination, my heart just fills with joy and I get the biggest smile on my face and then I just sit there in awe. I just thank God over and over again for the amazing people that He puts here on earth to spread the gospel in one way or another. I feel so privaleged to say that I was able to ride with you all on the first day of your journey, I mean what a blessing to be able to send off a great family across our nation to spread the message of Hope and Courage. I will definately miss reading your journal entries though, I always loved hearing about what great encounters you guys would make next and how in such subtle ways each of you made a positive difference in peoples lives. Thank you for enduring this wonderful journey and making our Awesome Savior known more across the country. We look forward to having you all back at Fox Island Alliance!
