Minnesota
Minnesota: the land of 10,000 lakes and 10,000 shoe stores (Mall of America). We are making our way through Minnesota. We spent a few days in Minneapolis to ride their bike trails and meet people. They have the best trails we have seen. They wind around lakes, through parks and over streams throughout the metro area. They people are equally great.
We visited the Mall of America. There we met Claire. Claire is a young Vietnamese mom working at a store to provide for her daughter. I mentioned we were cycling across America and her eyes welled with tears. She said, “I saw you all on TV last night and I can’t believe I am getting to meet you. My 4 year old daughter was born with problems in her legs. One is much shorter than the other and she has a struggle walking. I told her if that man can do all those things with no legs, you can do alot of things, too.” She kept wiping her tears as she spoke. We encouraged her and told her about our message of Hope in Christ and the courage to face whatever life brings. The puzzling thing is we didn’t know we were on TV. No one had come out to film us. They must have picked the story up from another city. Or God. Doesn’t matter.
We are camped in Rochester, MN this weekend. The camp manager said 95% of the people staying here are family of Mayo Clinic patients. Mayo Clinic is a premeir cancer clinic in America. I am wondering why God parked us here. Hmm?
Sunday we preach at Stewartville, MN at the church of a friend. It is a small church in a small town. Most of the geography of America is made up of small towns with small churches. I think it is the stitching that keeps this nation from unraveling around the edges.
Keep us in your prayers.
